Wolverhampton Wanderers pulled off a stunning cup upset at Anfield on Saturday, reaching the 5th Round thanks to goals from Richard Stearman and Andreas Weimann.
It’s the latest in a series of setbacks for Liverpool and their manager Jurgen Klopp. The Reds have faltered in the league in recents weeks and were also dumped out of the EFL Cup by Southampton on Wednesday night.
The result was a classic FA Cup upset but should we really be surprised Wolves managed to pull it off? This stat from Squawka shows that the man probably least surprised was Wanderers boss Paul Lambert.
Paul Lambert has never lost a competitive game at Anfield as manager:

Given he also won at Anfield as a player with Celtic in the UEFA Cup, it’s definitely a happy hunting ground for the Scottish manager.
Wolves have been struggling in the Championship’s bottom half this season, despite that it’s clear they didn’t fear going to Anfield and that was likely due to Lambert more than anything, Wolves’ biggest weapon on the day.
