Tottenham Hotspur made the perfect start to their 2017-18 Premier League campaign on Sunday afternoon - recording a 2-0 victory at Newcastle United.

Not many have tipped Spurs to match or better their runners-up spot from last season, but the London club showed that they will once again be a force after comfortably dispatching 10-man Newcastle.

Dele Alli scored 18 Premier League goals during a brilliant 2016-17 season, with the attacker once again improving on what was an impressive start to his career at Tottenham.

The 21-year-old scored his team's second of the match against Newcastle at the weekend, but he was booed off the field late on after being involved in the incident that saw Magpies skipper Jonjo Shelvey pick up a straight red card.

It would be fair to say that Alli, who has already been capped 19 times by England, is not too popular with a number of opposition club's supporters, but the Spurs fanbase have a special place in their heart for the former MK Dons youngster.
