According to reports in The Guardian, Arsenal are reportedly hopeful of completing a deal to sign Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette after launching a club-record £44m offer for the France international.
Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is keen to significantly strengthen his squad this summer following their disappointing fifth-place finish in the Premier League last season – which saw them miss out on Champions League football next term – and he looks to be closing in on a deal for the 26-year-old.
Lacazette is keen to leave the Ligue 1 outfit this summer and according to The Guardian, had set his heart on a move to Atletico Madrid.
However, with the La Liga unable to sign any players until January because of a transfer ban, the attacker could move to England instead.
Arsenal supporters were quick to have their say on the rumour via social media, but while some were praying that the deal gets done, others are unsure on the potential signing.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
Please footballing gods let us sign Lacazette 🙏🏾⚽️

I hope I'm wrong but I don't rate this Lacazette – 50% of his 29 goals were from the spot.

I'd have lacazette at arsenal, but I'm not gonna pretend the guys world class when he only scores against bottom half French teams

Lacazette – really liked him, convinced myself off him, but warming to the concept and more than willing for us to take a risk on him.
