Arsenal fans impressed with Xhaka showing as they beat United

Arsenal kept their hopes of securing a top-four finish alive as they beat Manchester United 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Quick-fire second half goals from Granit Xhaka and former Red Devils striker Danny Welbeck secured a crucial three points for the Gunners, who lie six points behind fourth-placed Manchester City with a game in hand.

Not only did the victory end United’s 25-match unbeaten run in the Premier League and give Arsene Wenger a first league win against Jose Mourinho, but it also allowed Xhaka to prove some of his critics wrong.

The midfielder has come under scrutiny from some fans and pundits in recent weeks but his deflected strike and all-round performance may have changed those views.

Arsenal supporters were quick to have their say on the performance of the Switzerland international via social media, and they believe he can be the future in their midfield.

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
