Arsenal lifted the Emirates Cup on goals scored on Sunday despite losing 2-1 to Sevilla in their second match of the competition, but fans were not impressed with the performance of young midfielder Joe Willock.
The 17-year-old started alongside Aaron Ramsey in the middle of the park for the Gunners but he struggled to impose himself on the game as he lasted an hour before being replaced by Granit Xhaka.
Second-half goals for the La Liga outfit from Joaquin Correa and Steven N’Zonzi were sandwiched by Alexandre Lacazette’s first goal at the Emirates, but the defeat wasn’t enough to deny Arsene Wenger’s men winning the trophy following their 5-2 success against Benfica on Saturday.
Arsenal supporters were quick to have their say on the performance of Willock via social media, and they believe that his showing proves that the teenager isn’t yet ready to be a first team regular, with some even describing the midfielder as being “out of his depth”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
Joe Willock looked absolutely out of his depth. A prospect but needs to improve. Nelson way ahead of him. #Arsenal

Willock tries too much. If he wants to prove himself he should stay in the basics. #AFC
