Arsenal fell to another miserable defeat this season on Saturday evening, soundly beaten by a resurgent Liverpool side at Anfield.
It was all too comfortable for Jurgen Klopp’s side who won thanks to goals from Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum, all contributing to the 3-1 win. It was a vital win too, so important in the race to finish in the top four this season.
Arsenal were perhaps the architects of their own downfall with Arsene Wenger taking the bold decision to drop Alexis Sanchez to the bench in a purely tactical move. It was a decision that seemed bizarre from the start but even more so in the second half when Sanchez came on and made Arsenal look like a much improved side, even assisting the call that threatened to spark a comeback.
It all means that Gunners supporters are even more perplexed about the direction Wenger is taking them in and whether he is still the right man for the job.
They took to Twitter to share their anger…

Predictable loss. Wenger made a Sanchez statement in a pivotal game. Beyond stupid. We paid a heavy price.

I don't know what went through Wenger's mind when he decided not to start Sánchez… ????
No Alexis, no party!

When Wenger put Sanchez on the bench what actually went through his head? If Sanchez is an Arsenal player next season I will be amazed.

I still can't understand why wenger didn't start Sanchez, the impact he made once he came on shown how he is the best player in the league..
