Arsenal fans rage on Twitter after Bayern humiliation

Arsenal fans have had a meltdown on Twitter after witnessing their team get humiliated 5-1 by Bayern Munich in the first leg of their last-16 tie in the Champions League.

Arsene Wenger’s side were underdogs heading to the Allianz Arena, but they would not have expected such a hammering, particularly as Carlo Ancelotti’s Bayern team have not exactly hit the same heights that they did under former manager Pep Guardiola.

The Gunners were dealt an early blow when Arjen Robben pulled away from Francis Coquelin and sent the ball into the back of the net with his left foot on the 11th-minute mark.

Wenger’s men launched a fightback when Alexis Sanchez ended up finding an equaliser after getting his initial penalty saved by Manuel Neuer.

It was nicely poised heading into the second half, but after Laurent Koscielny hobbled off injured, Robert Lewandowski’s goal opened the floodgates and Arsenal capitulated.

Inside 10 minutes, the North London outfit went from 1-1 to 4-1 down, and to rub salt into the wound, Thomas Muller found a fifth after coming off the bench.

Despite there being another game to play at the Emirates, barring a miracle, the tie is pretty much over.

As expected, Arsenal supporters have been venting their fury on Twitter, with many taking aim at Wenger.
