It was confirmed by the Premier League on Thursday that the summer transfer window will close before the start of the 2018/19 season rather than at the end of August following a vote by the 20 clubs.
BBC Football reports that 14 were in favour of the change while five teams – Manchester United, Manchester City, Swansea City, Crystal Palace and Watford – were against the move and Burnley decided to abstain from having their say.
It means that Arsenal were one of the sides that backed the move, and it is no surprise considering that the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexis Sanchez were being heavily linked with moves away after the season had started.
Of course, the former did indeed join Liverpool before the window slammed shut while Sanchez came close to a move to Manchester City in what a relatively quiet summer of incomings for the north London outfit.
Arsenal supporters were quick to have their say on the news via social media, but rather than being optimistic the majority seem to feel that the club will be “doomed” next year, with others labelling the change as “madness”.

Arsenal are doomed. Shorter transfer window. World cup year? You can hear Wenger's excuses already. https://t.co/G1jqBALKbg

Premier league window changing means absolutely zero to arsenal. There will be no plan or urgency but our misery will be over sooner.

I'm all for transfer window closing before the season starts but only works if European leagues do the same, otherwise they get an advantage.

This is stupid!
No other European league is.
What if clubs come in for our players last minute! Nothing we can do
