It’s often been said in recent weeks that silly season has started early, but it’s beginning to feel like it never ended in the first place – just a constant purgatory of ridiculous transfer rumour after ridiculous transfer rumour we’ll have to wade through for the rest of eternity or until god takes pity on our undead souls.
Case in point; The Sun claiming Manchester City could look to convince Arsenal into selling them talismanic attacker Alexis Sanchez by offering Jason Denayer in exchange. The same Jason Denayer who has just been relegated with Sunderland? Indeed, the very same.
It’s alleged Arsenal have expressed an interest in the Belgium international in the past, and his availability could change Arsene Wenger’s public stance of refusing to sell his contractually rebellious Chile forward.
But after such an underwhelming season at the Stadium of Light, which saw Denayer taste victory just six times across all competitions, it’s safe to say Arsenal fans aren’t exactly sold on the idea of the 21-year-old defender moving the other way…
Arsenal have no interest in Jason Denayer nor does his own club nor his country nor his ex club…

Manchester City fans, on the other hand, don’t think he can be shipped out of the Etihad Stadium fast enough…
