Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez and Chile won't be at next summer's World Cup in Russia following their 3-0 defeat to Brazil on Tuesday night, but Gunners fans weren't exactly sympathetic.

The South American nation were third in the standings going into the final fixtures and knew that a win against Brazil would guarantee their spot in the tournament, while a draw would be enough to at least see them contest a play-off fixture.

However, a goal from Paulinho and a brace from Gabriel Jesus saw the 2014 hosts run out comfortable winners, and positive results for Argentina, Colombia and Peru elsewhere meant that Chile finished sixth and were eliminated.

Sanchez came close to joining Manchester City towards the end of the summer transfer window and he hasn't pleased the Emirates Stadium faithful with his performances this term as he enters into the final year of his contract, with a departure next summer looking likely.

Arsenal supporters were quick to have their say on the news via social media, and while some called it "karma", others said they had "no sympathy at all" for the 28-year-old.
