Aston Villa fans full of praise for in-form striker as he keeps faint play-off hopes alive

Aston Villa kept their faint hopes of finishing in the play-off spots alive as they beat Queens Park Rangers 1-0 at Villa Park on Tuesday night.

Steve Bruce’s side still lie nine points behind sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday with just six fixtures of the season remaining, but a run of seven wins in their last eight Championship fixtures as given them hope that they could yet gatecrash the top six.

While they have conceded just once during that fine sequence of form, they have relied on striker Jonathan Kodjia to get the goals at the other end and he proved to be the match-winner again in midweek.

The Ivory Coast international has netted seven times in his last seven appearances, and has 18 league goals for the campaign.

Villa supporters were quick to praise the 27-year-old after the final whistle, with many wondering where they would be without him.
