Aston Villa’s bid for Premier League promotion is well underway, but it does not seem to be going to plan.
Steve Bruce’s side travelled to Reading this evening to play their third Championship fixture of the 2017-18 season.
The Midlands outfit headed into the match having not yet won a game following an opening-day draw with Hull City and a 3-0 loss to Cardiff City.
The team were unable to get back on track at the Madejski Stadium as they suffered a 2-1 defeat.
An own goal from Glenn Whelan gave Reading the lead four minutes into the second half, and that was doubled six minutes later when Modou Barrow struck.
Conor Hourihane managed to pull one back for Villa, but it came in the 87th minute, leaving it too late for the team to stage a comeback.
After leaving the stadium empty-handed, plenty of supporters took to Twitter to vent their frustrations.
Bruce has been the target of late, and that theme continued after this latest result.
