Aston Villa fans took the opportunity to mock Harry Redknapp after witnessing their team defeat Midlands rivals Birmingham City on Sunday.

The former Tottenham Hotspur boss has only been in the job for six days, but he already has plenty of work to do.

Gabriel Agbonlahor was the only scorer on the day as he netted his first goal in 14 months to give the hosts a 1-0 triumph at Villa Park.

The result hampers Birmingham's chances of sealing survival in the Championship as they are just two points above relegation with two games left to play.

After the match, Redknapp seemed to aim a dig at Agbonlahor, who has made just 12 league appearances this season.

The 70-year-old told reporters:

"Gabby? He's done well today, he' s had ten minutes, that'll keep him happy for another year won't it. Fantastic. We can't sit here and say Villa were good can we? Be honest."

Redknapp also defended his players by saying that the team did not deserve to lose and that goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak barely "got his gloves dirty".

As expected, Villa fans jumped on his remarks, accusing the experienced manager of being bitter.
