Aston Villa youngster Callum O'Hare scored a hat-trick as the U23s beat their Newcastle United counterparts 6-0 on Monday night, and Villa fans want to see the attacker given another first-team opportunity by Steve Bruce.

The 19-year-old scored two goals in the first half against the Magpies – the first an impressive left-footed strike – before he completed his treble after the break when he found the net after his initial penalty kick had been saved.

While the teenager has been on the substitutes' bench for six of Villa's Championship matches so far this season, he has appeared in only two playing a total of 43 minutes, but he certainly staked his claim for another chance on Monday.

Aston Villa supporters were quick to have their say on his performance via social media, and while some told Bruce to "start him against Preston" at Deepdale on Wednesday, others believe he "should start him instead of Onomah".

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction...
