Aston Villa fans slam Alan Hutton after Cardiff City defeat

Aston Villa’s disappointing start to the Championship season continued as they were comfortably beaten 3-0 by Cardiff City in the Welsh capital on Saturday, and right-back Alan Hutton in particular came under criticism from the fans.

Following an opening day 1-1 draw against Hull City at Villa Park last weekend, Steve Bruce’s men would have been hoping to pick up their first three points of the campaign at the Cardiff City Stadium as they look to secure a return to the Premier League.

However, things didn’t go to plan for the Midlands outfit and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing gave the hosts a 1-0 lead at the break.

Junior Hoilett doubled their advantage on the hour-mark before Mendez-Laing scored again to wrap up the points for Neil Warnock’s side to leave Villa 21st in the table.

Aston Villa supporters were quick to have their say on the performance of Hutton via social media, with the majority slating the Scotland international.

While some described him as a “total liability”, others are keen for the club to sell the 32-year-old.
