Aston Villa began the new Championship season with a 1-1 draw against Hull City at Villa Park on Saturday, but their fans were quick to criticise the performance of midfielder Leandro Bacuna.
The 25-year-old was picked on the left side of midfield by manager Steve Bruce for the visit of the team he used to manage, but despite Gabby Agbonlahor’s seventh-minute opener the hosts failed to hold on Jarrod Brown equalised in the 62nd minute.
When Bacuna was replaced by Andre Green eight minutes later the substitution was met by a chorus of ironic cheers, with the 25-year-old failing to impress the Villa Park faithful with his showing.
Aston Villa supporters were quick to have their say on the performance of the Dutchman via social media and while some described it as “woeful”, others believe that he is the worst player to grace the Villa Park pitch since former striker Marcus Allback and want the club to cash in on the midfielder.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
Bacuna is possibly the worst player I've seen down villa park since Marcus Allback #avfc

#avfc Hourihane dreadful last season. Lansbury poor yesterday. Creative spark needed. That spark is not Bacuna.
