The matches against Birmingham City were arguably one of the first that Aston Villa fans searched for when the season's fixture list was released.

On Sunday, Steve Bruce, who managed the Blues between 2001 and 2007, took his Villans to St Andrew's.

There was plenty of expectation from both sides given the magnitude of the derby, but in the end, neither team could break the deadlock and a goalless draw was recorded.

Villa have had a decent run in the Championship, losing just one of their last 11 outings, but they were unable to claim a second consecutive victory at the weekend when they faced Birmingham.

After the match, Bruce spoke to the media and admitted that it was unfortunate not to get the desired result, but he is now looking ahead to the next fixture.

The fans, though, have not been left impressed, and they took to Twitter to urge the manager to change his attitude.

Some also felt that Bruce was already making excuses in the event the team lose to Preston.
