Aston Villa fans want club legend as next head coach

Olof Mellberg is doing quite the job for Swedish side Brommapojkarna.

Indeed, the 40-year-old has led the club to back-to-back promotions, and they will now operate in the top tier of Swedish football next season.

Considering that the former Sweden international only took charge of the club in 2016, he has done a brilliant job.

Naturally, Villa posted a tweet on Wednesday congratulating Mellberg on his achievements during the early stages of his managerial career.

The Swede represented Villa as a player between 2001 and 2008, making more than 230 league appearances, and it would be fair to say that he was a very popular figure with the club’s supporters.

The no-nonsense centre-back went on to play for Juventus, before retiring from football at the end of the 2013-14 campaign.

Steve Bruce has helped Villa put some very good results on the board in recent weeks, but it seems that the club’s fans want Mellberg to replace the former Manchester United centre-back at the helm.
