According to reports in The Mirror, Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has been stunned by the news that he will have just £1m to spend this summer because of Financial Fair Play rules.
Following a devastating relegation from the Premier League last season, Villa took risks last summer by bringing in a lot of players for big transfer fees in order for them to make an immediate return from the Championship.
However, Bruce’s men finished the campaign in 13th position and they will be looking to secure automatic promotion next term.
That task has certainly been made more difficult by the club needing to be prudent because they are in danger of breaking the FFP regulations, although they can raise funds by selling players.
Aston Villa supporters were quick to give their reaction the story via social media, and some believe that it could see them finish in mid-table again next season.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
@AVFC_News It was bound to happen. This is where he and the coaching staff prove their skills.

@AVFC_News No surprise. Huge squad so he should be able to generate funds. Problem will be shifting Gabby, Richards & McCormack #avfc

If true about us having little to spend then current players we signed last year need to kick on #avfc

Selling the likes of Gollini, Richards, Cissokho, Amavi, Gil, Veretout and Sanchez should free up funds for Bruce. #AVFC
