Steve Bruce was not a favourite among a large number of the Aston Villa fanbase last season.
After arriving at the club in October last year – a few months after walking away from Hull City – the ex-Birmingham City boss failed to steer the team to a promotion challenge.
In the end, Villa were forced to accept 13th place in the table, 18 points adrift of the final playoff spot.
This season did not start as planned either as the team recorded two defeats and a draw in their opening three Championship matches.
The turning point, though, came against Norwich City at Villa Park, where Bruce’s players came out on top in a 4-2 triumph.
Villa have been unbeaten in the league since then, racking up four wins and three draws.
After the international break, the club will be hoping to extend their winning run to five when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.
Until then, Bruce is in the running to scoop the Manager of the Month award for September after guiding his team to two draws and four back-to-back victories in the league.
