Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has hit back at critics who laid into him for his lacklustre display for England against France on Tuesday night. The defender was one of many Three Lions who struggled in a 3-2 defeat in an international friendly at the Stade de France. The hosts may have been playing with 10 men for 43 minutes, but they managed to dominate their opponents. On one particular occasion, Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba used skilful footwork to get round Cahill and leave the defender chasing behind. The moment gave rival fans of Chelsea an opportunity to mock the defender, and they did so in their droves on Twitter. The bashing continued when Cahill tweeted after the match that he was disappointed not to help England claim victory. He was swiftly reminded by critics of his embarrassing moment, but he opted to respond with a picture of himself holding the Premier League trophy.Cahill and his Chelsea teammates became champions in May, while Pogba and his fellow United players finished sixth.
