With just a matter of days before Liverpool and Manchester United go head to head at Anfield, the last thing either team needed was a fresh injury blow.
Well, for Liverpool, the worst happened when the club announced via their official website that Sadio Mane is due to be on the sidelines for the next six weeks.
The 25-year-old suffered a hamstring injury while playing for Senegal in their World Cup qualifying win over the Cape Verde Islands on Saturday.
Jamie Carragher, who spent 17 years playing for the Reds, shared many of the fans’ frustrations when the news was confirmed.
The Sky Sports pundit’s reaction was to bemoan the regular risk of injuries during international breaks.

As well as missing Saturday’s encounter with United, Mane will be absent from Premier League games against Tottenham Hotspur, Huddersfield, West Ham United and Southampton.
In addition, the attack-minded player is expected to be ruled out of both Champions League group matches against Maribor.
