Everton were roundly praised for their summer spending after parting with more than £100m on a handful of new signings, including Michael Keane, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Wayne Rooney. However, the clubâs post-season activity has not reflected onto the pitch, as Ronald Koemanâs side are struggling for results. They have secured just one win out of their five Premier League games, and that was on the opening weekend of the campaign when Rooneyâs goal sealed a 1-0 triumph over Stoke City.Since then, the Merseyside outfit have drawn with Manchester City and lost to Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. It has not been the kindest of fixture lists for Everton, but the most concerning part has been the performances from Koemanâs team. The Toffees headed into Sundayâs clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford on the back of a disappointing Europa League group opener against Atalanta, in which they lost 3-0.Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher, who played for Evertonâs enemies Liverpool for 17 years, believes that Evertonâs performance against the Red Devils was an improvement on previous games, but there is a big problem that they need to tackle.
