Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher decided to rub salt into the wounds of Everton fans by joking that he played a part in Romelu Lukaku's contract snub.Widespread publications in the British media, including The Telegraph, have reported that the 23-year-old has opted against penning a long-term deal worth £140,000 a week. The development has come as somewhat of a surprise after Lukaku's agent Mino Raiola mentioned numerous times that a deal was close to being agreed. It does not necessarily mean that Lukaku will be heading out the Goodison Park exit gate this summer because he still has two years remaining on his current contract, but it indicates that he is keeping his options open.Carragher gave his reaction to the news by sending a jibe Everton's way on Twitter.Recently, the retired defender, who spent 17 years playing for the Toffees' Merseyside rivals, spent time at Everton's Finch Farm training ground to film a segment for Sky Sports.During his visit he donned the club's training kit and took on Lukaku in a one-on-one session. After the striker's contract news emerged, Carragher claimed responsibility for the turnaround.
