Celtic and Rangers met on Sunday for the fifth time this season and for the Hoops it was one of the most straight-forward encounters yet.
Pedro Caixinha’s side didn’t really show up at Hampden and Brendan Rodgers’ team were far too strong over the 90 minutes.
Callum McGregor got his team off to a wonderful start with a calm finish for the opening goal before Leigh Griffiths won a penalty early in the second half which was duly tucked home by Scott Sinclair.
The 2-0 result means that Aberdeen are the only thing standing in the way of Celtic and a rare domestic treble of trophies. There’s even a chance that Celtic go the entire domestic season unbeaten, Sunday’s game making it 41 games on the trot that they’ve not been bested by Scottish opposition.
While there has been an obvious gulf between the two sides across the season, many expected Rangers to put up a much bigger fight than they did.
Celtic supporters were as shocked as anyone and took two Twitter to share their amazement about how easy the afternoon was…
Pedro thanks for the treble. The first half was like a training session. Stand of Celtic as they are too good. Know your place. Easy days!!!

Two of the easiest games of the season and both against the new club. 5-1 and 2-0 going on 5. Outplayed, outclassed, outfought. So easy.

Yes Celtic!! That was easy. No different from watching us play Dundee or Motherwell. Know your place…

All too easy for Celtic. Rangers didn't stand a chance, thought it'd be closer. Aberdeen stand between us and the treble.
