Celtic kicked off their Scottish Premiership defence with a thrilling 4-1 victory over Heart of Midlothian at Celtic Park on Saturday. The Hoops have now gone 40 league matches undefeated, a streak that stretches back over a year to May of 2016.
Leigh Griffiths was the hero of the day with a classy brace before being substituted, goals which were supplemented by efforts from Callum McGregor and Scott Sinclair. Most of the first team were big performers, the vast majority of the side remaining from last season.
The one new Bhoy on the pitch was former Man City man Olivier Ntcham, making his league debut for the Scottish champions after featuring against Rosenborg and Linfield in UEFA Champions League qualifying.
While it’s clear he is still getting up to full match fitness, he once again impressed alongside Scott Brown, passing the ball neatly and showing the bravery to offer more direct and incisive balls forward. While some of his long range efforts didn’t quite come off, it’s clear that he has the potential to be a midfield star at the Hoops.
Supporters were certainly impressed and they took to Twitter to share their thoughts about his performance…
Don't know if Ntcham will offer same deep lying goal threat as Armstrong but Ntcham moves the ball very quickly and accurately. Fine player.

Thought McGregor played well today the longer the game went on. Griffiths was outstanding. Big Ntcham strolled it.

From what I've seen of Ntcham, and so far today, just glides over the pitch. Lovely vision and range of passing.
