Gordon Strachan’s refusal to give Leigh Griffiths a regular start in a Scotland shirt has been one of the defining talking points around his reign as national team boss.
That continued on Wednesday night when, despite being fresh and ready to play, Strachan again snubbed Griffiths and opted to play Chris Martin instead.
Martin has scored just 11 goals this season in the Championship, a lesser total than Griffiths despite playing many more minutes. He also has just 1 goal in his last 7 matches.
Griffiths is only being kept out of the Celtic side by the incredible form of Moussa Dembele and when called upon by Celtic has always performed to a high standard.
Many thought that tonight’s match against Canada was the perfect opportunity for the Celtic striker to get some vital game time with the national team and put himself in contention for a place on Sunday against Slovenia.
It’s fair to see that the decision hasn’t gone down with well Scotland fans, especially those of a Celtic persuasion.
Supporters took to Twitter to share their thoughts…
Leigh Griffiths must be ready to wrap football altogether man. Bloody shocking the amount a game time he's getting!

In s friendly will we try 442 giving Griffiths & Rhodes a go up top?
Try a capt of Leeds who plays CB to see if he can aid a poor area?

@ClydeSSB One up front against Canada? No wonder we have only sold 5k tickets tonight. And no Leigh Griffiths. Deary me.

Chris Martin starting over Leigh Griffiths in a friendly vs Canada, Strachan really isn't a fan of Leigh.

Would be happy to see Strachan sacked right now after that team selection. If he isn't going to Start Griffiths tonight he never will!
