Gary Cahill made his 250th appearance for Chelsea in Saturday's Premier League clash against Watford at Stamford Bridge.

The 31-year-old joined the Blues from Bolton Wanderers in 2012, and is now the club's permanent captain following John Terry's departure during the summer transfer window.

Cahill actually scored eight times in 43 appearances for Chelsea last season, and was widely praised for his performances in the team's title-winning campaign.

The centre-back's form has been slightly hit and miss in the early stages of this season, however, with Chelsea struggling for consistency.

Head coach Antonio Conte has decided to stick with a 3-4-3 formation this season, but Chelsea have been poor defensively over the last few weeks - shipping seven goals in their last three matches.

On Saturday, Chelsea's official Twitter account paid tribute to Cahill on his 250th appearance, but the same cannot be said for the club's supporters.
