According to reports in the Daily Mirror, Chelsea have made a surprise move to sign unsettled Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski this summer, but could face competition from Manchester United according to Sky Sports.

Blues manager Antonio Conte is looking for a replacement for Diego Costa after telling the Spaniard he isn’t part of his future plans, and has been alerted to the news that the prolific 28-year-old is unhappy with the Bundesliga champions despite scoring 43 goals in all competitions last term.

The story in the Daily Mirror says that the Poland international was less than pleased with the lack of support from manager Carlo Ancelotti and his teammates as he looked to win the Golden Boot last season, which has cast questions marks over his future in Germany.

Chelsea supporters were quick to have their say on the rumour via social media, and they were understandably desperate for the west London outfit to complete a deal for the “world-class” striker.
