According to Sky Sports, Chelsea are ready to step up their efforts to sign Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain next week after Alvaro Morata completed his move to Stamford Bridge.

Blues boss Antonio Conte is keen to bring in more depth to his squad in the wing-back positions and the 23-year-old would provide competition for Victor Moses on the right-hand side having impressed there for the Gunners at the end of last season.

The versatile England international can also play in a variety of other positions, and could be available for a good price if he is allowed to leave considering he has just one year left on his contract and has told manager Arsene Wenger that he has no intention of extending it, according to Sky Sports.

Chelsea supporters were quick to have their say on the rumour via social media, and they were divided with their opinions.

While some believed that he is ‘exactly what they need’, others said that they “don’t need him” as he is no better than what they already have.
