Former Chelsea target Renato Sanches struggled to make an impact on his Swansea City debut against Newcastle United on Sunday, and Blues fans are glad that they didn’t sign him.
The Evening Standard said last month that Antonio Conte wanted to bring the highly-rated 20-year-old to Stamford Bridge on a temporary basis from Bayern Munich, but a move failed to materialise and he was eventually sent out on loan to the Swans instead.
Sanches failed to make a big impression in his debut season with the Bundesliga giants despite some impressive displays for Benfica and for his country as they won the 2016 European Championships.
He seems as though he will take some time to settle into life in the Premier League too considering his passing accuracy in the early stages of his side’s 1-0 loss at the Liberty Stadium.
Renato Sanches has lost possession 14 times in 28 minutes. Welcome to the Premier League.

Chelsea supporters were quick to have their say on his performance via social media, and they were glad that they didn’t bring him to the capital based on his showing.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
Renato Sanches gave a 'Moussa Sissoko' performance against Chelsea in Pre-season. Awful display.

Looks like a Renato Sanches disaster class. Dodged a huge bullet there, never understood why fans wanted him here after last season.

This first half shows exactly why I wasn't that disappointed the Sanches to Chelsea rumours died down.
