Premier League champions Chelsea have announced that they have reached an agreement with Spanish giants Real Madrid for the transfer of striker Alvaro Morata, as Antonio Conte looks to bolster his side ahead of the new season.
The addition of Morata, while subject to agreeing personal terms and the former Juventus man passing his medical, will be the fourth signing off the summer following goalkeeper Willy Caballero, defender Antonio Rudiger and midfielder Tiemoue Bakayko, and the announcement comes a day after the news that Conte himself put pen to paper on a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
Having won the title in his first season, the Italian manager is looking to build a side capable of competing in the Champions League as well as defending the Premier League and having won Europe’s top prize last season, Morata is a canny choice.
The Spain international, who was brought back from Turin thanks to a buy-back clause last summer, fell down the pecking order under manager Zinedine Zidane and always looked to be on the move this year. However, it didn’t always look to have been to west London as just a couple of weeks ago it seemed certain former Blues striker Romelu Lukaku would be making a return to the Bridge this summer, before the Belgian joined United.
Having now landed a striker Chelsea fans took the time to celebrate on Twitter, while a couple used it as a chance to have a pop at the now Man United man…

Morata played and won the UCL, scored in big knockout games, while Lukaku was chasing his first touch across muddy fields in the league cup
