Chelsea fans praise Cahill’s unlikely goal threat

Gary Cahill has been a regular member of Antonio Conte’s three-man defence at Chelsea this season, but in recent games he has posed a threat in other areas.

The England international has scored three goals in his last seven outings in all competitions, and two of those were netted in the last two Premier League matches.

After contributing to the scoresheet in a 4-1 win over Southampton, Cahill poked home the second in a potentially-defining 3-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park.

The 31-year-old has had his critics this season, though, with many football fans baffled that he was included in the PFA Team of the Year over Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld.

On the pitch, though, Cahill is on course to secure his second Premier League winners’ medal at Chelsea as the club lead by four points with four games left to play.

The defender took to Twitter to express his joy at the result on Sunday, and he received plenty of congratulatory messages from fans, who praised his recent form.
