According to reports in The Telegraph, Chelsea are paying just an initial £58m fee for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata as a deal moves closer to completion.

The Blues announced on their official club website on Wednesday that they had an agreement with the La Liga giants for the transfer of the 24-year-old attacker, and The Telegraph has confirmed that it is an initial payment of £58m which could rise to £70m with potential add-ons.

The Spain international had travelled with Real on their pre-season tour to America but he has now left to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical with the Premier League holders.

Chelsea supporters were quick to have their say on the deal via social media, with some describing the fact that they are paying £58m initially as “truly amazing”, while others praised the board for getting the transfer over the line.
