It was announced on Thursday that the summer transfer window will close before the 2018/19 season starts after the majority of Premier League clubs voted for the changeto happen.
This summer has seen the likes of Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk and Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez affected by transfer rumours after the campaign has begun, and 14 top flight teams were in favour of the change with BBC Football saying only Manchester United, Manchester City, Watford, Swansea City and Crystal Palace voting the other way.
That means Chelsea were one of those clubs in for the idea despite the fact that they signed two players on deadline day this year – Davide Zappacosta and Danny Drinkwater.
Chelsea supporters were quick to have their say on the decision via social media, and while some believe there could be “exciting times” ahead as the transfer business should be concluded earlier, others believe it could put the likes of club director Marina Granovskaia at risk of losing their jobs.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
Since our deals are always concluded on deadline day, nothing changes.

Window ending early should be another reason in a list of million reasons why Chelsea Board needs to be sacked.
