Former Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew labelled Chelsea star Marcos Alonso as “inexperienced” on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football programme, and fans were not impressed.

Speaking about the Blues’ fantastic campaign which has them in pole position to win the Premier League title, the 55-year-old said that he believed that the Spaniard was “an inexperienced player that had enjoyed an unbelievable season.”

He added that nobody “would have assumed that he would play that role [left wing-back] as well he has” this term.

Having made more than 220 club appearances in total during his career and having starred in the left wing-back role for Fiorentina for two seasons prior to his move to Stamford Bridge last summer, fans were quick to have their say on Pardew’s comments via social media.

Some stated that his opinions show why he is out of a job right now, while others called him “clueless”.
