It would be fair to say that there were a number of Chelsea supporters that were disappointed when their club did not re-sign Romelu Lukaku during the summer.

Lukaku moved to Manchester United from Everton, and at that point, there was anger from the Chelsea fans, who were worried about their team's chances of competing this season.

Alvaro Morata arrived towards the end of July, however, and the Spain international has been brilliant for the Premier League champions during the early stages of the 2017-18 campaign.

The forward has netted six times in six Premier League matches for the Blues, while he came up with arguably his biggest goal of the season against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.

Indeed, Morata's header just before the hour cancelled out an Antoine Griezmann penalty, before Michy Batshuayi won the Champions League fixture for Chelsea in the the 94th minute.

On Thursday, Chelsea posted a quote from Morata, with the Spaniard refusing to play down the importance of collecting all three points from the trip to Madrid.

As expected, a host of Chelsea supporters responded to the message, and it seems that the club have a new hero in the final third following the departure of Diego Costa.
