N’Golo Kante was a pivotal figure in his first season at Chelsea as he helped the club win the Premier League title.
Individually, it was back-to-back English crowns for the midfielder having been part of a shock triumph at Leicester City in the previous campaign.
Kante played in all but three of the Blues’ league games in that period and he has featured in every one of the club’s seven fixtures in this season, even contributing with a goal.
Last weekend, the midfielder suffered a calf injury while playing for France in the nation’s World Cup qualifying 1-0 win over Bulgaria.
During Thursday’s pre-match press conference, manager Antonio Conte told reporters that Kante will undergo a scan next week to determine the extent of the problem.
The Italian coach also confirmed that Alvaro Morata will be missing from this weekend’s match against Crystal Palace, but should be back in action for the Champions League game against Roma.
Conte says he hopes to have Morata back for Roma but Kante needs to have a scan next week. He says the midfielder is a big loss. #CFC
