Frank de Boer's sacking by Crystal Palace may not have come as a huge surprise given how quickly the managerial merry-go-round turns, but the club's fans are not impressed.

The Dutchman was only in charge of the Eagles for five games before he was shown the door.

It was a disappointing spell for the ex-Ajax man as he oversaw just one victory - a 2-1 triumph over Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup.

Other than that, it was misery all round, as Palace lost to Huddersfield Town, Liverpool, Swansea City and Burnley in the Premier League.

The London club conceded seven goals in total and failed to find the back of the net in any of their top-flight matches.

The result has left them second from bottom in the table on zero points, with only West Ham United in a worse position.

Over the weekend, club chairman Steve Parish acknowledged the struggles, but in replies to fans on Twitter he urged everyone to "stick together" and seemed to be optimistic that things would turn around.

Today, Palace released a short statement on their official website, which read:

"Crystal Palace Football Club have this morning parted company with Frank de Boer. We would like to thank Frank for his dedication and hard work during his time at the club. A new manager will be appointed in due course and we wish Frank the very best of luck for the future. There will be no further comment at this time."

As expected, fans have been reacting to the news, with many angry at the club for making the decision just five games into the season.
