It has not been the smoothest ride for Danny Ings at Liverpool since his arrival from Burnley in 2015.

The striker has been blighted by injury woes, which have severely hampered his progress at Anfield.

Since moving to Merseyside two years ago, Ings has made just six appearances in the Premier League.

The Englishman did not have a chance to impress Jurgen Klopp when the German replaced Brendan Rodgers as manager in October 2015, as Ings suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage during the coach's first week at the club.

He made a brief return at the end of the season, but the injury problems came back last October when he picked up a knee injury that kept him on the sidelines for nine months.

The 25-year-old has been working his way towards full fitness by playing for the development squad, but during an Under-23s match at the weekend, the forward suffered a problem.

Ings was substituted 36 minutes into the game against Manchester City after feeling discomfort, but manager Neil Critchley claimed that he removed him as a precaution.

After the news emerged, Liverpool fans tweeted their thoughts on the situation.
