Dele Alli is one of the most talented English youngsters in decades

Tottenham Hotspur picked up their seventh consecutive victory in all competitions with a thumping 4-0 win at home to Watford on Saturday.

In a dominant performance that delighted the Spurs faithful, Mauricio Pochettino’s side had the game won by half-time, heading into the interval 3-0 up thanks to goals from Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Son Heung-Min.

The Korean striker completed a brace shortly after half-time to put the cherry on top of the home support’s day and give them real belief they can push Chelsea all the way in the title race.

At the heart of it all again was Dele Alli, whose opener happened to be his sixth goal in his last eight matches for the club, part of an incredible nineteen goal total for his side this season. Also contributing six assists so far this term, it’s clear that he is one of the hottest midfielders in the entire Premier League right now.

In fact, as this stat from Opta shows, he’s one of the most talented English midfielders for his age in decades.

That’s some illustrious talent he’s outpacing. It would be one thing if he was in the same ballpark at those three legends, but he’s outstripping their goal contributions at a ridiculous rate, even when you take into his account his more advanced position in the Spurs set-up.

With the goals and assists likely to flow for years to come, Tottenham fans must be rubbing their hands together at the though of where he can lead them.
