Derby County fans hit back at Bent for controversial tweet

A number of Derby County supporters have not taken kindly to Darren Bent’s criticism on Twitter.

The striker took aim at fans that blamed Steve McClaren’s substitutions for Tuesday’s late draw with Preston at Pride Park.

Bent was one of the players who came onto the field in the final 16 minutes of the game.

The forward replaced David Nugent, while Abdoul Camara came on for goalscorer Matej Vydra and Johnny Russell was replaced with Craig Bryson.

Derby had been leading the way from the 50th minute following Vydra’s goal, but the Rams suffered a sucker-punch when Tom Barkhuizen nabbed a 90th-minute equaliser.

Plenty of fans criticised the substitutions, which prompted Bent to tweet this…

Some supporters feel that their complaints were justified, while others have hit back at Bent for slamming Derby’s loyal following.

McClaren’s side are unlikely to push for a playoff spot as they currently reside 10th in the Championship, 10 points adrift of the top six.
