England duo blasted by Liverpool supporters

It would be fair to say that neither Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain nor Daniel Sturridge have been in particularly impressive form for Liverpool in the early weeks of the 2017-18 campaign.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has only played 73 minutes of Premier League football for Liverpool since joining the Reds from Arsenal in the latter stages of the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old’s only start for Jurgen Klopp’s side has come in the EFL Cup against Leicester City – which is a match that the Merseyside outfit lost 2-0.

Sturridge has actually started three Premier League matches during the early stages of the season, but the forward has only managed one goal, and he struggled during Liverpool’s 1-1 draw at Newcastle United last time out.

Despite their disappointing form at club level, both were named in the England squad for the upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Lithuania.

On Wednesday, Liverpool’s Twitter account highlighted that the attacking pair were both currently on international duty, but the responses from the club’s supporters suggested that neither are particularly popular on Merseyside at the moment.
