Everton fans delighted by Jagielka return ahead of Brighton visit

Phil Jagielka has confirmed that he expects to be fit for Everton’s Premier League match against Brighton on Sunday following a spell on the sidelines with injury.

A hamstring problem has kept the defender out of action since the team were beaten 4-0 by Manchester United on September 17.

In Jagielka’s absence, Everton have recorded a win over Bournemouth and a defeat to Burnley in the top flight.

In addition, Ronald Koeman’s side secured a win over Sunderland in the third round of the Carabao Cup without the centre-back, but were held to a draw with Apollon Limassol in the Europa League.

It has not been the most enjoyable of seasons for the Merseyside outfit so far as they currently reside 16th in the league table.

Koeman’s men have won just two of their seven matches in the top flight and have scored only four times.

At the other end, the Toffees have allowed 12 goals to get past them, but some fans are hopeful of a better display on Sunday now that Jagielka is in line to return to the defence.
