Everton have provided an update on Morgan Schneiderlin’s injury, which has not ruled him out of the upcoming Merseyside derby.
The midfielder suffered a calf injury half an hour into the Toffees’ 4-0 triumph over Hull City at Goodison Park on Saturday.
There were concerns by manager Ronald Koeman that the Frenchman could be on the treatment table for a significant period of time.
The first official word from the club is that the problem is “minor”, but there is still no return date for Schneiderlin.
In a statement released on the club’s official website, it was revealed that the midfielder will “continue to be monitored” until a decision is made about his fitness.
The 27-year-old has 10 days to recover due to the international break and he will be aiming to grace the pitch for Everton’s Merseyside derby against Liverpool at Anfield on April 1.
Plenty of supporters are pleased to hear that the injury is not more serious, and many are keeping their fingers crossed that Schneiderlin will be available for the huge derby.
