According to reports in Spanish publication AS, via Sport Witness, Everton are ‘very interested’ in signing out-of-favour Atletico Madrid striker Kevin Gameiro during the January transfer window, but Toffees fans are divided on a potential deal for a player they were also linked with last month.
The report says that the La Liga giants are considering selling the Frenchman and Nicolas Gaitan in the New Year as they look to prepare for the arrival of Diego Costa, and it is news that will have alerted the under-fire Ronald Koeman.
The pressure is building on the Dutchman following a disappointing start to the season, and he will be frustrated that the club didn’t sign the Romelu Lukaku replacement he wanted during the summer transfer window.
Everton supporters were quick to have their say on the latest rumour via social media, and they were divided with their opinions on the 30-year-old, who has played just 27 minutes of football this season.
While some “would love to see this happen”, others believe the 30-year-old is “another second-rate player”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
Is Athletico Madrid’s Kevin Gameiro interested in Everton in January .. I very much doubt it ..
