Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has sent a special message to the fans after agreeing to join Manchester United.

The Belgian forward was heavily linked with a move away from Goodison Park this summer after he failed to pen a new contract.

His former club Chelsea were the frontrunners at one stage, but instead of returning to Stamford Bridge, he has opted to sign for the Red Devils.

At the weekend, United confirmed on their official website that a deal has been agreed for Lukaku to join Jose Mourinho's side, subject to a medical.

The Guardian reports that the Premier League giants will fork out an initial £75m, but will eventually pay £90m in total with add-ons.

The transfer has not been finalised as yet, but Lukaku has already said his goodbyes to the Everton supporters by posting a message on Instagram.

Lukaku's kind words to Everton's following were not hugely well received, with some fans labelling him a snake.

Others, though, offered their gratitude to the 24-year-old, who scored 53 Premier League goals across a three-year spell on Merseyside.
