Everton were unfortunate not to take all three points in their 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Tuesday night, and Toffees fans were full of praise for their captain Phil Jagielka following an impressive performance.

As well as showing his defensive qualities and leadership at the back, the 34-year-old also scored his side’s goal which looked set to give the Merseyside outfit all three points before the injury-time drama.

Jagielka’s centre-back partner Ashley Williams was dismissed for handling a goal-bound shot, and Red Devils forward

Zlatan Ibrahimovic duly despatched the spot-kick to give Jose Mourinho’s men a share of the spoils.

It was a penalty that stopped Ronald Koeman’s men leapfrogging their opponents in the Premier League table, but Toffees supporters were full of praise for their skipper, who has sometimes been in and out of the starting line-up under the Dutchman this term.
