According to reports in The Mirror, Everton midfielder Ross Barkley’s career at Goodison Park looks to definitely be over with manager Ronald Koeman closing in on deals for attacking midfielders Gylfi Sigurdsson and Davy Klaassen.

The reports says the Merseyside outfit had offered the England international a deal that would have made him the highest-paid player in the club’s history, but he has refused to sign.

With just a year left on his contract Everton would prefer to sell the 23-year-old now rather than losing him for nothing next summer, and the potential arrival of Sigurdsson and Klaassen from Swansea City and Ajax respectively look to have sealed his fate.

Everton supporters were quick to have their say on the rumour via social media, and while some were disappointed that a youth product in Barkley looked set to leave, others were excited at the potential arrival of two of the best attacking midfielders in Europe this season.
