Former Everton defender John Stones was the star of the show for Manchester City in their 4-0 win against Feyenoord in the Champions League on Wednesday night after scoring a brace, and Toffees fans are still frustrated that the club sold him.

The England international moved to the Etihad in a £47.5m deal last summer to make him the second most expensive defender in the world at the time, but he is still coming under scrutiny on occasions for his performances.

However, there was no criticism of him in Rotterdam on Wednesday as he found the net with a header in just the second minute, before rounding off the win with another goal with his head from a corner just after the hour-mark.

Everton supporters were quick to have their say on the showing of their former centre-back via social media, with some saying that they 'can’t believe the club sold him', and others saying it shows they "have the quality" at the club if they can keep hold of their star players.
